Recruiting Event

Location: Thompson Park North Shelter House

Sunday September 7th, 6-8pm 

Recruiting is the lifeblood of the program and we need to get new people engaged. Those who came before us built up the program to what it is today, and we need to pay it forward to incoming families. This venue makes it an outdoor event so the girls can play at the playground and we can grill out some food for dinner.

We've reserved the Thompson Park North Shelter House on Sunday September 7th from 6-8 pm to welcome in prospective new families to the program. A key part of this is that current veterans of the program need to be there to help new families figure things out. This is a joint venture event with UA Guides, anyone from UA that is interested in joining Indian Princesses or Indian Guides has been invited to attend. Grilling fare and kid friendly snacks will be provided for rumbling bellies. Please invite any prospective members (friends/neighbors with younger kids that are curious about the program) to attend this event to find out what its all about. FALL CAMPOUT

YMCA Camp Willson

We are excited to return to Camp Willson!

 

Camp Willson encompasses 500 acres of beautiful woodland, pasture land, trails, program space in Bellefontaine, OH.  It is owned and operated by the YMCA of Central Ohio and is developed exclusively for camp use. Camp Willson is located between in Bellefontaine off US-33.


The cabins will be available to use, and of course you are always welcome to camp in a tent. Meals will be provided by the campground. 

 

Directions from UA:

  • Take Riverside Drive north to the circle at 161
  • Take third exit from circle onto westbound 161 (which turns into US 33)
  • Exit US 33 at County Rd 10, first exit after you pass Mad River Mountain
  • Left onto Township Rd 179 then immediate right onto Township Rd 185
  • Left on Ludlow, then short jog and right on Lake Ave
  • Camp Willson entrance is 2 ½ miles on the right.

 

Approx. travel time from UA is 1hr

 

Camp Activities Include:

  • Twin Zip Line
  • Giant Swing
  • BB Guns
  • Archery
  • Canoeing
  • Hiking
  • Fishing (bring your own poles)
  • Tower pumpkin toss
  • Tribal Ceremony and Campfire

 

Your registration fee covers:

  • Heated cabins with restrooms, electricity and bunk beds
  • Access to the campground for tent camping
  • All activity costs
  • T-shirts for you and your daughters
  • Firewood
  • Pumpkin carving equipment (bring your own pumpkins)
  • Crafting supplies
  • Basically all incremental costs associated with the campout. We operate campouts as break-even events

Registration

The Indian Princesses has a long history of bringing fathers and daughters together for life enriching experiences. This history dates back to 1926, and the Olentangy Longhouse dates back to 1960. We are the oldest and largest group in Upper Arlington.

Trail Mates are 6th through 8th grade
